In order to meet exciting challenges and developments in the international academic arena, Peter Lang AG is delighted to announce the nomination of Dr Claude Béglé as new Chairman of the Board at its next General Assembly on 6th of July 2011. The new Chairman will bring his vast international experience to ensure, together with current management, the future growth and profitability of the Peter Lang Publishing Group.

Peter Lang AG International Academic Publishing Group is the leading Swiss player in its field, with an enviable international reputation. It has operated for 40 years in academic publishing, particularly in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Belgium and the United Kingdom, with expanding markets in France, Spain, Poland, Ireland, India and China.

Peter Lang currently publishes around 2000 titles per year. The Group has a flourishing balance sheet and is wholly owned by the UK-based Peter Lang Children’s Trust, a charity organization supporting educationally and financially disadvantaged children.

The market in which the Peter Lang Group operates is evolving fast, which necessitates constant adaptation of the Group’s strategy, structure and operations. A new digital strategy is currently being implemented.

Much of this vital work has already been achieved by the current Chairman, Mr. Paul G. Donald, and the CEO, Mr. Tony Albalá de Rivas. Mr. Paul G. Donald has decided to focus more on his responsibilities with the Children’s Trust. However, to ensure a smooth coordination between both Trust and Group, he will continue as Deputy Chairman of Peter Lang AG.
