The book deals with the synesthetic metaphors in Synamet – a semantically and grammatically annotated corpus. The texts included in the corpus are excerpted from blogs devoted to, among others, perfume, wine, beer, music, art, massage and wellness. The thesis presents a Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) and frame-based analysis of synesthetic metaphors in Polish. Using data from the corpus, the book provides ample empirical support for embodiment in metaphor and internal logic of mappings between frames. The study proposes new models of verbal synesthesia in the corpus and calls into question a universality of hierarchy of senses. This book should be of interest to researchers working within cognitive linguistics, in particular metaphor theory, frame semantics, corpus linguistics, and sensory science.

In recent years, the terms "ethics," "politics," "performativity," and "experience" have proliferated throughout the discourse of the humanities. However, it is rarely noted that their contemporary understanding has been shaped by the works of Jacques Derrida, who has employed all these concepts since the mid-1960s. The aim of this book is to present the lesser discussed topics of Derrida’s thought – not only as the creator of a specific mode of interpretation called "deconstruction" but also as an initiator of recent ethical and political reflection, a pioneer of performatics, and a precursor of current research on experience. At the same time, the book provides a panorama of the most important changes in the humanities of the last thirty years, and in particular – the ethical, performative, and empirical turns.
Remembering and Forgetting in Post-War Poland and Ukraine
The book is a comparative case study of collective memory in two small communities situated on two Central-European borderlands. Despite different pre-war histories, Ukrainian Zhovkva (before 1939 Polish Żółkiew) and Polish Krzyż (before 1945 German Kreuz) were to share a common fate of many European localities, destroyed and rebuilt in a completely new shape. As a result of war, and post-war ethnic cleansing and displacement, they lost almost all of their pre-war inhabitants and were repopulated by new people. Based on more than 150 oral history interviews, the book describes the process of reconstruction of social microcosm, involving the reader in a journey through the lives of real people entangled in the dramatic historical events of the 20th century.

Brasiliens Neokonkretismus (1957-1967)
Seit einiger Zeit ist Brasiliens Neokonkretismus in Ausstellungen, Katalogen und Publikationen in Europa präsent. Die Autorin nimmt erstmals auf Deutsch umfassende Werkanalysen vor und stellt den Schlüsselcharakter der neokonkreten Praktiken dar. Die Kunst- und Lyrikproduktion der Bewegung führte, so die Autorin, zu einer Umwertung und Neuauslegung des konkret-konstruktivistischen Gedankenguts der europäischen Avantgarden des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts. Diese Umwertungen schufen in Brasilien erst die Voraussetzungen dafür, haptische und sensorielle Komponenten ästhetischen Erlebens zum zentralen Ausgangspunkt künstlerischer Praxis zu erheben, für welche die späteren Arbeiten der brasilianischen Avantgarde-Ikonen Lygia Clark und Hélio Oiticica bekannt sind. Die Arbeit ist ein wichtiger Beitrag dazu, moderne und zeitgenössische künstlerische Praktiken aus Brasilien zu dekolonisieren, denn die Analysen zeigen auf, dass haptisch und plurisensoriell erfahrbare Kunstwerke aus Brasilien eben nicht auf einer angenommenen genuin sensorisch-sensiblen Konstituierung des Menschen in Brasilien beruhen, sondern vielmehr auf einer eigenwilligen, lokalen Rezeption europäischer Avantgardepraktiken.
