N2  - Two recent monographs, both edited dissertations, attempt two systematic approaches to a perennial topic in research on the medieval beast epic – the constitution and destruction of order. While there are many citational links between each work, including between each author, each approach bears distinctly upon the conclusions of each study and sometimes differently on close readings of the same motifs or passages.
