It deals with the pious men and women who made their way to Bardsey out in the Irish Sea or St Davids on the Atlantic coast or Holywell in north-east Wales, while others were journeying to Santiago de Compostela or Rome or even Jerusalem, as shown by Welsh poetry and the like.
