The chapters discuss Varieties of Time, Measuring Time, Time and the Planets, Lives in Time, Timescapes: Narrative Shapes of Time, Allegories of Time, Ages of Humankind, and The End of Time. As one might guess from the title, the focus lies principally on Middle English with frequent recourse to Dante, occasional French literature, and various Latin sources such as the
