This paper explores the concept and functions of Buddhist dance, introduces the background, characteristics, and social roles of key producers of para-liturgical Buddhist music-dance in Taiwan, and categorizes the types of dances performed. It analyzes similarities and differences between religious and non-religious artistic groups, examining the motivations, methods, and specific types of para-liturgical Buddhist dance promoted. Additionally, it addresses connections between liturgical body movements and para-liturgical dances, discussing whether these contemporary practices reflect a revival of earlier traditions or represent the emergence of a new cultural phenomenon. %K Buddhism, Music, Dance, Para-liturgical, Performing Arts, Taiwan
