It had its genesis in several years of collaborative inquiry and dialogue among scholars. In 2022, the Philosophy and Theory in Higher Education Society (PaTHES) hosted a series of online club meets and webinars for researchers, educators and practitioners around the world to explore slowness as a transformative approach in higher education. Voices in the series included Rikke Toft Nørgård, Barbara Grant, Sean Sturm, Maha Bali, Finn Thorbjørn Hansen, Frances Kelly, Alison Phipps and Agnes Bosanquet. %K slow, academia, introduction, special, issue
