Rather than providing a transhistorical understanding of the Atlantic, the volume examines relational networks across North and South America, Africa, and Europe. While traditionally representations of sociopolitical, cultural, and artistic engagements have been dominated by male figures, women's networks have played an important role in shaping societies, literatures, and relations across borders. Arts, literature, translation, and criticism have been important vehicles for women to foster transnational circuits of conversation and exchange, as well as intellectual, cultural and political rapprochement. The volume invites readers to consider these networks' potential and complexity, positioning them as indispensable for the cultural and social fabric of the Atlantic world. %K Transatlantic, Black Atlantic, Women's networks, Literary & Cultural Studies, History, Networks of intellectual and cultural exchange %G English
