%X Disruptive Frames in the Postcolony is an interdisciplinary collection of essays exploring contemporary South Asian cinema through postcolonial, feminist, caste, trauma, and cultural studies perspectives. Examining mainstream, regional, and independent films, the volume analyses how cinema becomes a site of resistance, negotiation, and ideological contestation in the postcolony. The essays engage with themes of marginality, nationalism, masculinity, femininity, violence, memory, and belonging while interrogating structures of power and exclusion. The collection foregrounds feminist readings of Indian science fiction cinema, critiques of hypermasculinity and militant nationalism, and studies of folk horror traditions that recover silenced histories of caste oppression, patriarchy, and colonial trauma. Through analyses of horror, adaptation, realism, and speculative fiction, the volume argues that South Asian cinema functions as a contested cultural archive where identities, histories, and postcolonial anxieties are continuously rewritten.
