Tied to this celebration was an effort to celebrate members of the school’s illustrious faculty, notably Gui de Chauliac (circa 1300‒1368), whose Chirurgia magna or Grande Chirurgie (1363) is a foundational document for the history of medicine. The work was widely diffused, translated into multiple languages, and reprinted numerous times.
