From this premise, this book rethinks metaphysics from Classical to Late Antique thought across Eastern and Western thought. It pursues this historically through three constellations of ideas, the Graeco-Hellenic tradition, the Arabic and Latin reception of that legacy, and East Asian Buddhist-Daoist philosophies. Anchored in the central historicalmetaphysical concept of the ‘Millennial Turn,’ it finds a careful balance between the discursive and non-discursive, oriented towards modesty and transcendence, before tracking a ‘Turn’ towards an imbalance between discursivity and non-discursivity, resulting in certitude and immanence. The question then arises whether metaphysics has now exhausted itself. All the while guided by ‘ineffable,’ the limit of thought that renews disciplined humility before first principles, the book responds with concepts derived from this historical groundwork, seeking to restore this balanced orientation towards transcendence. %K Ineffable, Receptacle, Logic of Symbol, First Principles, Millennial Turn, Graeco-Arabic, Buddhist, Daoist, Non-discursive, Metaphysics, Transcendence, Beauty, Idea, Becoming, Being, Immanence, Medieval, Ancient, Late Antiquity, Emile Alexandrov, Metaphysics and Ineffable %G English
