N2  - Argumentation theory and pragmatics are closely connected fields of research that have mutually informed one another for decades, sharing a concern with the study of communicative behavior. This edited volume presents novel research at the intersection of the two disciplines. All contributions share a pragmatic approach to the linguistic dimension of argumentative practices and highlight how integrating these disciplines can yield new insights into argumentative discourse. The volume showcases the richness of work conducted at the pragmatics and argumentation interface, analyzing argumentation across different settings and adopting a variety of theoretical frameworks and methodologies, spanning qualitative to quantitative approaches. Special attention is given to the role that the analysis of data from different communicative contexts plays in answering research questions, underscoring how the study of argumentation draws on the typically pragmatic sensitivity to contextual parameters.
