N2  - Although William Langland’s Piers Plowman, extent in three versions (A, B, and C), has long been recognized as one of the literary masterpieces of late medieval English literature, recent research has increasingly returned to it and made huge progress in reevaluating this profound moralizing, criticizing, and satirizing allegorical and alliterative poem. It proves to be, not surprisingly, stunningly topical today once again, maybe because our world is going through yet another paradigm shift, almost parallel to the one which Langland so bitterly complained about.
