%X This translation by Marc Le Person into modern French of the chanson de geste known as La destruction de Rome follows upon the same scholar’s masterly critical edition of the text in 2023. The translation opens up access to a much wider audience, which might find the Old French daunting. But more than half the book is devoted to the scholarly apparatus, which is provided in the form of a long and informative, though dense, introduction (11–134), bibliography (135–47), and an index of proper names (241–57).
