%X The dramatic works of Max Frisch display an increasing tendency toward the narrative mode of expression. The first part of this study is concerned with the manifestations of this development with respect to time, place, narrator figures and the narrative impulse. In the second portion, the focus shifts to the effect of language and its correlating image and fiction upon the perception of reality, the discrepancy between the word and the world, and the personal and social implications of preconceived images or predetermined fictions.
