In order to examine the similarities and differences in research focus as well as the overall situation of self-translation research in China and abroad, this study gathered relevant literature on self-translation research from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science, which are broadly recognized databases in China and abroad; and it used CiteSpace 6.1.R2 visualization software to generate a scientific knowledge map to examine comprehensively the current situation, hot spots, and frontiers of this field, so as to come up ultimately with forward-looking suggestions for the future development of self-translation studies. %K self-translation research, visual analysis, CiteSpace
