This book, which introduces the underscoring plural perspectives in feminist theories, covers a chronology of over five centuries (from the 1600s to 2000s) in feminist work and theorizing, while introducing contemporary discourses that challenge monolithic representations of feminism. It engages the major critiques of mainstream feminism, including its exclusionary practices and limitations. The Feminist Theories and Education Primer also discusses the importance of feminist research analysis, specifically the need to genuinely comprehend the influence of ideology and subjectivity in the process of research. The author questions commonly understood binaries in understanding gender, identity, sexuality, and education in order to forge new areas of theorizing the politics of self and other while destabilizing established power hierarchies. Dismantling White Privilege critically interrogates whiteness across contexts, from the experiential level to the different ways in which whiteness is deployed in contemporary cultural politics. The editors and contributors contend that «marking» whiteness is an important step in dismantling white privilege within the context of concerns for equity and social justice. Significant to this anthology is linking analyses of whiteness to the discourse of critical pedagogy, especially around constructing «pedagogies of whiteness». Investigating whiteness in its many manifestations, Dismantling White Privilege represents a necessary advance concerning the intersection among race, culture, and pedagogy.

Teaching Joe L. Kincheloe is one of a handful of recent books posthumously moving Kincheloe’s work further into the twenty-first century. Written and edited by Kincheloe’s former students and colleagues, the book underscores the depth and breadth of his extraordinarily productive career. In an era marked by the ruling elite’s desperation as U.S. power wanes globally, this work opens up transformative ways of seeing conducive to challenging the technocratic, imperialistic purpose of the dominant forms of education. Kincheloe would surely have been pleased to see this – among his many postformal contributions – counter-hegemonically providing critical pedagogy with the theoretical and practical strength to contribute to the global uprising currently challenging the imperialist project of wealth extraction and cultural domination around the world. Teaching Joe L. Kincheloe will only gain relevance as the global movement against authoritarianism intensifies and citizens search for new ways to better understand their worlds and the historical development of their own identities.
