Mehrsprachigkeit in Europa / Multilingualism in Europe

The home market, the Euro, strong international cooperation, economic success and peace in Europe will work better and with more stability, or at least less difficulty, the more multilin-gual Europeans are. While the institutional EU has done a lot to pursue the targets (since 2007, there have been a separate fund and a Commissioner for Multilingualism), the situation in the individual countries continues to differ widely. The result is that the multilingual abili-ties of European citizens and societal multilingualism, including diglossia, vary from country to country. The series Multilingualism in Europe seeks to contribute from different perspectivesto a bet-ter definition of the phenomenon of multilingualism, providing theoretical and practical sup-port on how multilingualism can be explored and promoted and how it can work effectively. Interdisciplinary approaches are welcome in the following areas: • Linguistics • Neurolinguistics • Psychology • Didactics of multilingualism • Politics • History • Sociology • Political Sciences • Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies Le marché européen, l'Euro, l’importante coopération internationale, la réussite économique et la paix en Europe sont d’autant plus stables et fonctionnent d’autant mieux si la plupart des citoyens européens sont plurilingues. L’UE a fait suivre ses objectifs de mesures concrètes (depuis 2007, il y a un commissaire à l'éducation, à la culture, au multilinguisme et à la jeunesse), cependant la situation dans les différents pays européens reste très hétérogène : les compétences plurilinguistiques des citoyens européens et le multilinguisme sociétal, y compris la diglossie varient d'un pays à l'autre. La collection « Multilinguisme en Europe » a comme objectif d’apporter une contribution en analysant ces questions sous des angles divers, en cernant le phénomène du multilinguisme et en fournissant des apports théoriques et pratiques qui permettent de promouvoir le multilinguisme et le savoir comment celui progresse de manière efficace. Les domaines scientifiques suivants constituent le point de départ, l’interdisciplinarité y est dominante : • linguistique • neurolinguistique • psychologie • didactique du plurilinguisme • histoire • sociologie • sciences politiques • littérature et civilisations comparées Binnenmarkt, Euro, intensive internationale Zusammenarbeit, wirtschaftlicher Erfolg und Friede in Europa können umso besser und stabiler bzw. überhaupt störungsfrei funktionieren, wenn möglichst viele EuropäerInnen mehrsprachig sind. Während die EU institutionell den Zielvorgaben konkrete Taten hat folgen lassen (seit 2007 gibt es ein eigenes Portfolio und damit einen eigenen Kommissar für Mehrsprachigkeit), sieht die Lage in den einzelnen Ländern weiterhin sehr unterschiedlich aus. Die Folge: Die Mehrsprachenkompetenz der europäischen BürgerInnen und die gesellschaftliche Mehrsprachigkeit inklusive der Diglossie variieren von Land zu Land. Die Reihe Mehrsprachigkeit in Europa möchte einen Beitrag dazu leisten, das Thema aus unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln zu analysieren, das Phänomen der Mehrsprachigkeit besser zu definieren und theoretische und praktische Hilfestellungen dahin gehend zu geben, wie Mehrsprachigkeit erforscht und gefördert werden kann und wie sie effizient funktioniert. Folgende wissenschaftliche Perspektiven bilden den Ausgangspunkt, wobei interdisziplinäre Ansätze erwünscht sind: • Linguistik • Neurolinguistik • Psychologie • Mehrsprachigkeitsdidaktik • Politik • Geschichte • Soziologie • Politikwissenschaften • vergleichende Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaften.

Europäische Kinder- und Jugendliteratur im interkulturellen Kontext

This series includes Ph.D. dissertations, monographs, anthologies and conference proceedings on literature for children and young adults dealing with cultural diversity in Europe. It aims to be a scientific platform for discussions about literature for children and young adults as an international and supra-national medium of cultural transfer and wants to contribute to the current discourse on the consequences and perspectives of migration. This series intends to offer a discussion forum to experienced specialists as well as to young researchers. A large spectrum of theoretical approaches is welcome within the framework of this series: comparative studies as well as publications on the history of ideas, critiques of contemporary civilisation, socio-psychological perspectives, literary theory and translation studies. English, German and French are accepted as languages of publication. Sie soll sowohl erfahrenen Spezialisten der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur als auch jungen Wissenschaftlern als Plattform dienen. Die Reihe bietet sowohl komparatistischen, mentalitätsgeschichtlich, kulturkritisch oder sozialpsychologisch ausgerichteten Untersuchungen als auch literatur- oder übersetzungstheoretischen Abhandlungen Raum. Contemporary German Writers and Filmmakers

Contemporary German Writers and Filmmakers aims to reflect the continuing and dynamic developments in German culture since the reunification of Germany in 1990. The fall of communism, the forging of the new Berlin Republic and increasing ethnic diversity have coincided with growing international acclaim for writers of German (such as Nobel Laureates Günter Grass, Elfriede Jelinek and Herta Müller) and renewed interest in German cinema (such as the award-winning film Das Leben der Anderen / The Lives of Others). Each volume is devoted to the work of a contemporary German-speaking novelist, poet, playwright or filmmaker, containing an interview with its subject and, in the case of writers, an original piece of previously unpublished writing presented in parallel English translation. The other chapters on key aspects of the emerging œuvre and its international significance are by scholars in the field. As the volumes are intended for readers with little or no knowledge of German, all quotations are translated into English. The volumes are designed as a resource for specialists and students alike and to stimulate debate within and beyond the academy. Proposals for new volumes on significant contemporary practitioners in the literary and cinematic fields are welcomed. The language of the series is English.

Leeds-Swansea Colloquia on Contemporary German Literature

The Leeds Colloquia on Contemporary German Literature series is the successor to the Bradford Series of Colloquia on Contemporary German Literature. Like its precursor, the Leeds Series has as its focal point of departure a three-day, biennial colloquium devoted to a particular theme. The colloquia have been supported by a range of cultural institutions over the years including the Goethe Institut, Austrian Cultural Forum and Modern Humanities Research Association, enabling them to act as a forum for dialogue between Germanisten in the German-speaking world and established and aspiring scholars based in the UK, Ireland, the USA and Australia. It is of equal importance that a broad understanding of what constitutes literary writing is fostered. Thus while ‘canonical’ literary figures have always featured, there has been a commitment to new writing which has given rise to the first academic discussions in English of several significant contemporary writers. The organising editors are Professor Julian Preece (University of Wales, Swansea) and Professor Frank Finlay (University of Leeds) who work in tandem with an international Advisory Board. Genèses de Textes / Textgenesen

Les annales intitulées Genèses de Textes ont été fondées dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche primé par l’ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche), portant sur l’étude des processus mémoriels et textuels dans les textes hermétiques après 1945, en particulier chez Erich Arendt, Paul Celan et Ernst Meister. Ces annales renseignent par là à intervalles réguliers sur les travaux du groupe international ainsi constitué . Les réflexions dont elles se font l’écho touchent toutefois également une problématique et un corpus plus larges incluant une réflexion sur les processus culturels et littéraires aux 20e et 21e siècles. Genèses de Textes présente régulièrement un ensemble d’articles regroupés autour d’un thème ou d’une problématique spécifique ainsi qu’éventuellement un ou deux articles non thématiques, un cahier d’informations sur les activités du groupe de chercheurs regroupés autour de l’édition d’Ernst Meister, ainsi que des traductions et comptes rendus d’ouvrage. Etudiant essentiellement des phénomènes liés à la transitivité de la culture, ces annales se considèrent également comme transitoires – elles accueillent souvent des travaux qui sont en même temps conçus comme des modèles d’études destinés à être perfectionnés. Elles publient des articles en langue allemande, française et anglaise. Das Jahrbuch Textgenesen ist im Rahmen eines von der ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) geförderten Projekts über Gedächtnis- und Textprozesse in hermetischen Texten nach 1945 entstanden; untersucht werden in diesem Rahmen vor allem Texte von Erich Arendt, Paul Celan und Ernst Meister und das Jahrbuch berichtet in regelmäßigen Abständen über die Arbeiten des internationalen Forscherteams, das sich aus diesem Anlass konstituiert hat. Die im Jahrbuch wiedergegebenen Überlegungen beziehen sich jedoch auch auf eine weiter gefasste Problematik und ein breiteres Korpus und schließen eine Reflexion über Kultur- und Literaturprozesse im 20. und 21. Jahrhundert mit ein. Es wird regelmäßig ein Themenheft publiziert, das aber auch ein bis zwei nicht thematisch gebundene Aufsätze enthalten kann, sowie einen Beitrag über die vom Team der Ernst-Meister-Ausgabe geleistete Arbeit, Übersetzungen und Rezensionen. Da das Jahrbuch im Wesentlichen Phänomene kultureller Übertragung behandelt, versteht es sich ebenfalls als Ort des Übergangs: Es nimmt gerne Arbeiten auf, die Modellentwürfe darstellen und zur weiteren Ausarbeitung gedacht sind. Aufsätze in deutscher, französischer und englischer Sprache werden aufgenommen.

Aspects linguistiques et culturels des discours spécialisés

Cette collection a pour objet de promouvoir l’’étude des domaines spécialisés à travers les aspects linguistiques, discursifs et culturels qui permettent de les caractériser. Elle accueillera des travaux de recherche rédigés en français qui aborderont des domaines disciplinaires ou professionnels dans une perspective synchronique ou diachronique par le biais de la terminologie, la linguistique, la stylistique, l’’analyse du discours ou d’’un genre particulier. Elle s’’adresse à des chercheurs intéressés par les langues de spécialité, qu’’ils soient spécialistes de langues étrangères, de l’’un des axes précédemment évoqués ou encore de traduction. Les analyses pourront porter, à titre d’’exemples, sur la néologie, les métaphores constitutives de la théorie d’’un domaine, les aspects rhétoriques, l’’analyse des éléments des discours spécialisés, l’’histoire des idées pour un domaine donné à travers les concepts et leur dénomination, l’’étude des normes et contraintes en vigueur dans un milieu spécialisé à travers le/les discours. Cette collection accueillera des monographies ou des ouvrages collectifs rassemblant des articles sur un thème donné. Dans les deux cas, les tapuscrits soumis seront évalués de manière anonyme par deux spécialistes du domaine. Schweizer Jahrbuch für Musikwissenschaft

Das „Schweizer Jahrbuch für Musikwissenschaft" ist das jährliche Publikationsorgan der Schweizerischen Musikforschenden Gesellschaft (SMG). Die jetzt laufende Neue Folge wurde 1980 vom damaligen Präsidenten der SMG, Prof. Dr. Ernst Lichtenhahn, lanciert und knüpft an bei einer ersten Folge von sieben Jahrbuch-Bänden (zwischen 1924 bis 1938) aus der frühen Zeit der Gesellschaft (damals noch: Neue Schweizerische Musikgesellschaft). Programmatisch ist heute wie damals die breite thematische Ausrichtung der im Jahrbuch publizierten Aufsätze. Bände mit Themenschwerpunkten (u.a. Kongressberichte) wechseln mit freien Bänden. Beiträge in- und ausländischer Autorinnen und Autoren in französischer, deutscher, italienischer oder englischer Sprache bieten ein grosses Spektrum der wissenschaftlichen Auseinandersetzung mit Phänomenen der Musik. Damit dient das Periodikum dem internationalen Austausch und ist zugleich eine Plattform für musikwissenschaftliche Forschung aus der Schweiz. Die thematische Palette reicht von der Musik des Mittelalters bis zu zeitgenössischen Kompositionen, kann historiographische, aufführungspraktische, ästhetische, aber auch ethnomusikologische und weitere systematische sowie fächerübergreifende Fragestellungen einschliessen, mit unterschiedlichen Gewichtungen in den einzelnen Bänden. Band 37 schliesst die Reihe ab. Das Schweizerische Jahrbuch für Musikwissenschaften erscheint ab Band 38 ausschliesslich online bei Bern Open Publishing, Universitätsverlag, Bern.

Historical Sociolinguistics

The interdisciplinary field of Historical Sociolinguistics seeks to reveal the impact of language development on society and the role of individuals and society in the changing forms and usage of language. This book series is aimed at sociolinguists and social historians who are keen to publish studies on the social history of languages, the interaction of linguistic practices and society, and the sociological significance of linguistic variation with a historical dimension. The purpose of the series is to provide empirically supported studies that will challenge and advance current language historiographies, which often continue to present the history of particular languages as necessarily leading to the creation of a standard or prestige variety. Of particular interest are topics such as the following: language myths and language ideology, historical multilingualism and the formation of nation-states, the sociolinguistics of minority and regional languages, the rise of urban vernaculars, immigrants and their languages, the role of prescriptive grammarians, and the social history of pidgins and creoles. Book proposals from historians and linguists working on any language in any period are welcome, in particular those that include a comparative dimension as well as those with a strong empirical foundation. The language of publication is primarily English, though other languages may be considered. The editors guarantee that all publications in this series have been submitted to external and anonymous peer review. The four series editors and twenty-six members of the advisory board are all members of the Historical Sociolinguistics Network (HiSoN).
