CEAUP Studies on Africa
ISSN: 2235-591X
Still-existing gaps in the current knowledge on Africa are an opportunity for collective scientific efforts: if formerly stable academic boundaries can be transgressed, then these lacunas may provide a good chance to advance with new interdisciplinary designs. CEAUP (Centre of African Studies of the Porto University) is an interdisciplinary research centre working on African issues. This series allows the discussion of CEAUPs efforts in a larger, international context. The studies to be included focus on subjects regarded as especially innovative and which may help our understanding of African current impasses: Identity and group conflict Patterns of change in production and labour relationships, notably forced labour Access to natural resources, such as water, land and raw materials State building and civil society The series accepts monographs, collected papers and conference proceedings in English. Historia y contacto en textos indorrománicos
ISSN: 2511-7165

Reimagining Canada
Canada, in all its messy manifestations, is in transition, but where is it going? With foundational myths eroded, identities fragmented, allegiances contested, the idea of Canada in the hearts and minds of those who live there is under intense scrutiny and careful criticism. Canada’s place in the wider world is just as uncertain. Against a backdrop of COVID, Indigenization, decolonization, inflation, immigration, and shifting global politics, what might Canada mean in five, ten or fifty years’ time? Reimagining Canada seeks to understand the forces at work, and to ask what comes next. Taking a broad and inclusive approach to the study of Canadian culture, history and society, the series interrogates Canada’s past and present in order to suggest possibilities for the future. Relevant issues might include, but are not limited to: arts and culture; Indigenization; decolonization; digital spaces and media; the future of the Canadian constitution; globalization; healthcare and social services; immigration and multiculturalism; memory and memorialisation; and sovereignty. The series is open to scholars and public intellectuals working in all areas of the humanities and social sciences, and aims to be interdisciplinary or even post-disciplinary in its approach. The editors are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and welcome contributions from scholars of marginalized groups and communities that tend to be disproportionately underrepresented within public discourses in Canada. As such, they strongly encourage scholars from these groups and communities to contribute to the series. Contributors are free to self-identify as desired. Books in the series are aimed at a more general audience than the traditional academic monograph. Readers might include undergraduate students, academics working in other fields, practitioners, policymakers, and the public. The series provides a platform for authors to reach a larger audience than usual, or to speak to new audiences; to deliver bold new arguments; to write unencumbered by the usual obligations for referencing; and to be exciting, provocative and even polemical. EcoPolis
ISSN: 1377-7238
Series founded by Marc Mormont The EcoPolis series is dedicated to the analysis of changes that occur simultaneously in society and the environment when the latter becomes a fundamental concern. For a long time the environment was defined as being external to society, like the world of nature and ecosystems which serves as a material foundation for social life. Thus the aim of environmental policies has been to "preserve", to "protect" or even to "manage" that which was seen as a sort of infrastructure of our societies. After several decades of environmental policy, nature and the environment have become objects of government and it is seemingly within the same movement that each society models its environment and shapes itself. This dialectic will be central to the series.

Africa in Development
ISSN: 1662-1212
Editorial Board Adebayo Adebiyi, University of Lagos, Nigeria Fantu Cheru, Nordic Africa Institute, Sweden Mamadou Diouf, Columbia University, USA Guy Martin, Winston-Salem State University, USA Pamela Mbabazi, Mbarara University, Uganda Carlos Oya, SOAS, London University, UK Tim Shaw, Royal Roads University, Canada Series text While African development remains a preoccupation, policy craftsmen and a multiplicity of domestic and international actors have been engaged in the quest for solutions to the myriad problems associated with poverty and underdevelopment. Academic and scholarly responses have built on the traditional and non-traditional analytical frameworks and promoted a multidimensional discourse on, for example, conflict management, peace and security systems, HIV/AIDS, democratic governance, and the implications of globalization. This series is designed to encourage innovative thinking on a broad range of development issues. Thus its remit extends to all fields of intellectual inquiry with the aim of highlighting the advantages of a synergistic interdisciplinary perspective on the challenges of and opportunities for development in the continent. Of particular interest are studies with a heavy empirical content which also have a bearing on policy debates and those that question theoretical orthodoxies while being grounded on concrete developmental concerns. The series welcomes proposals for collected papers as well as monographs from recent PhDs no less than from established scholars. Book proposals should be sent to the editor at .

Institutionelle und Sozial-Ökonomie / Institutional and Socio-Economics
"In the "Institutional and Socio-Economics" book series, the economy is studied as a genuinely social system of heterogeneous agents in an institutional context. The series includes a broad range of different methodological approaches, theoretical perspectives and subjects of study. Interdependencies among agents in complex social systems can be studied using evolutionary economic models, as well as institutional economic and simulation studies. Hence, the focus is being laid on approaches that are more explorative than the standard equilibrium analysis; on approaches that allow for complexity; on approaches that consider development, history, institutions, and values. Thus, we may conclude that institutions are more than just devices for the reduction of transaction costs. From an institutionalist perspective, institutions are the common and collective solutions to social decision problems, particularly social dilemma problems, coordination problems, and collective-good problems. Such solutions require recognized interdependence and learned coordination and cooperation, thus a learned culture of a long-run perspective emerging as the result of a process of interactions. Institutions often are transitory only, part of the ongoing dynamics, adequately modeled possibly as an evolutionary process. Also, they may be instrumental solutions to a social decision problem at first and may degenerate into ceremonial power-and-status-based phenomena later, thus limiting the possibility of further innovation and development. In a genealogy of economics, the thematic and methodological spectrum of this book series would embrace the history of thought beginning with the classics including great names such as Adam Smith and Karl Marx but also the late classics who already have struggled with issues like complexity, process, historical time, and evolution. In newer times, the spectrum continues with Veblenian, Keynesian, and Post-Keynesian thinking; it would also include works in the traditions of original institutionalist economics, ecological economics, Neo-Schumpeterian thinking, evolutionary economics, and game theory. Social economics and social policy analysis, behavioral economics, complex modeling, system dynamics, and agent-based computational economics would be embraced as well. Such lists, however, can never be exhaustive. Last not least, institutional and socio-economics deals with the epistemology and substance of values, norms and ethics, value warrants of economic behavior as well as the normative foundations of economics. This series, thus, stands in the best traditions of plural economic research areas and pluralistic theoretical perspectives. It may be called heterodox, but it shall always be cutting-edge and of high quality. Enjoy exploring the works of this book series. Torsten Heinrich (Managing Editor) " "In the "Institutional and Socio-Economics" book series, the economy is studied as a genuinely social system of heterogeneous agents in an institutional context. Cuadernos de Yuste
ISSN: 2031-3985
The «Cuadernos de Yuste» series collects the multilingual and cross-disciplinary contributions from the summer doctoral seminars organized by the European Academy of Yuste Foundation on European issues related to those linked to the work carried out by winners of the «Charles V European Award», given every two years. The seminars are coordinated by members of the Economic Governance and European Identity network, which gather German, Belgian, Spanish, French and Italian scholars who are joined by experts on the matters of discussion. The seminars welcome doctoral students, who may thus compare their current research, benefit from quality supervision and contact researchers from previous seminars that constitute the «Alumni from Yuste European Network». The series is open to other collective or monographic works - in German, English, Spanish and French -, that deal with issues studied in previous publications, such as Socio Economic Governance and European Identity; Relations between Europe and Russia in the 19th and 20th Centuries; Portugal and Spain in 20th Century Europe, Translation and Interpretation, or with topics that will be studied in forthcoming seminars. Diversitas
ISSN: 2031-0331
The aim of this series is to study diversity by privileging an interdisciplinary approach, through political, legal, cultural and social frameworks. The proposed method of inquiry will be to appeal, at once, to the fields of political philosophy, law, political science, history and sociology. In a period characterized by the increasing diversity of contemporary societies, the authors published in this series will explore avenues for the accommodation and management of pluralism and identity. Such studies will not be limited to assessments of federal states, but will include states that are on the path to federalization as well as non-federal states. Serious efforts will be undertaken to enrich our comprehension of so-called nations without states, most notably Catalonia, Scotland, Flanders and Quebec. A point of emphasis will also be placed on extracting lessons from experiences with civil law relative to those cases marked by the common law tradition. Monist and competing models will be compared in order to assess the relative capacity of each model to provide responses to the question of political instability, while pursuing the quest for justice in minority societies. The series also addresses the place of cities in the management of diversity, as well as the question of migration more generally and the issue of communities characterized by overlapping and hybrid identities. A profound sensitivity to historical narratives is also expected to enrich the proposed scientific approach. Finally, the works published in this series will reveal a common aspiration to advance social and political debates without privileging any particular school of thought.
