The purpose of this collection is to promote the work carried out by the Normandy Chair for Peace, which investigates the rights of future generations and Peace with the Earth. Resolutely open to the international scene and committed to multidisciplinarity, the Normandy Chair for Peace will publish here the proceedings and scholarship it has coordinated in fields as varied as: the legal protection of the planet, the rights of indigenous peoples, the rights of nature, animals, success stories, and environmental peace-building. This collection strives for coherence among the various transformations currently under way in international, regional and national legal systems with a view toward establishing sustainable protection of the environment, environmental rights and the future. The collection also explores protection of the future human condition along with bioethical issues that are constantly renewing the legitimate fields of law. Drawing on the immemorial wisdom of Humankind, this collection intends to promote all types of work illustrating the imperative of civilization according to which: "We shall have peace on Earth when we live in Peace with the Earth". Cette collection a pour objet de promouvoir les travaux menés par la Chaire Normandie pour la Paix qui œuvre pour le droit des générations futures et la Paix avec la Terre. Résolument ouverte à l’international et inscrite dans la pluridisciplinarité, la Chaire Normandie pour la paix publiera ici les travaux scientifiques qu’elle aura coordonné dans des domaines aussi variés que　: la protection juridique de la planète, des droits des peuples autochtones, des droits de la nature, des animaux, des success stories, de la construction de la paix environnementale. Elle œuvre pour une mise en cohérence de différentes transformations actuellement en cours au sein des systèmes juridiques internationaux, régionaux à nationaux en vue d’instituer une protection durable de l’environnement, des droits environnementaux et de l’avenir. The City as Place: Emotions, Experiences, and Meanings

The purpose of this series is to examine the city as a lived place. Specifically, we are interested in the ways in which the city is invested with meaning through everyday lived experiences. The series is particularly interested in submissions that focus on the perceptual and felt dimensions of urban places through exploring the experiential, emotional, sensory, and affective dimensions that contribute to how people behave in, feel about, and move around in cities. Books in this series will interrogate the relationship between people and place through a focus on the diverse ways in which subjective and intimate feelings are fundamental constituents of the urban experience. We encourage authors to examine the city as a lived place from a range of different perspectives, and to be inclusive of individual and collective voices in the city to better understand the historical development and contemporary evolution of diverse urban settings. Some of the questions we seek to explore through the series include, but are not restricted to: How is the city experienced, by whom, and how does this change over time? Who shapes the experience of the city and for what reasons? How do individual and shared joy, fear, pride, nostalgia, disgust, or other emotions, shape the meanings attributed to urban spaces? How does the lived experience of, and emotional connections to, urban places inform the way particular spaces within cities are preserved and memorialized, or alternatively demolished and redeveloped? In what ways is our understanding of the lived experience of the city sharpened through the lens of comparative, transnational, and global approaches? The series seeks to examine the real and the imaginary, the representational and the non-representational, the historical and the contemporary, the remembered and the recreated in all historical periods including research on the twenty-first-century city. The series is open to work covering all geographic areas, and we encourage authors, where possible and relevant, to situate their studies in comparative, transnational, or global perspectives. Europäische Bildung im Dialog

Ziel dieser Buchreihe ist es, den bildungswissenschaftlichen Diskurs vor dem Hintergrund des europäischen Integrationsprozesses in international-vergleichender Perspektive voranzubringen. Angesichts der aktuellen wirtschaftlichen und politischen Entwicklungen in Europa sehen sich Bildung und Forschung vor neue Herausforderungen gestellt: Die politische und wirtschaftliche Reduzierung von Bildung und Bildungsforschung auf technisch verwertbares Humankapital sowie auf die Messung von Bildungsleistung verstellt zunehmend den Blick für die Bedingungen von Ungleichheit v.a. entlang der Dimensionen soziale Klasse, Ethnizität und Staatsangehörigkeit. Die Buchreihe legt einen deutlichen Fokus auf komplexe theoretische Fundierungen und empirische Rekonstruktionen jener Mechanismen und Strukturen, die zu einer Perspektivverengung von Bildungspraxis, Bildungspolitik und Bildungsforschung führen und so strukturell und kulturell verankerte klassen-, migrations- und geschlechtsspezifische Ungleichheiten ebenso legitimieren wie verfestigen. The „Dresden Papers on Law and Policy of the United Nations“ offer a platform for scientific research regarding the United Nations – including UN specialized agencies and regional organizations. They reflect in a legal and/or political scientific perspective the structure and work of the world organization and aim at examining the opportunities which exist in order to strengthen the UN system as a basis for a “world’s peace law” through governance. By doing so, the Dresden Papers wish to contribute to the field of “UN Studies” in research and teaching. This series includes theoretical studies of any genre or aspect of folklore. Still-existing gaps in the current knowledge on Africa are an opportunity for collective scientific efforts: if formerly stable academic boundaries can be transgressed, then these lacunas may provide a good chance to advance with new interdisciplinary designs. CEAUP (Centre of African Studies of the Porto University) is an interdisciplinary research centre working on African issues. This series allows the discussion of CEAUP’s efforts in a larger, international context. The studies to be included focus on subjects regarded as especially innovative and which may help our understanding of African current impasses: – Identity and group conflict – Patterns of change in production and labour relationships, notably forced labour – Access to natural resources, such as water, land and raw materials – State building and ‘civil society’ The series accepts monographs, collected papers and conference proceedings in English. Still-existing gaps in the current knowledge on Africa are an opportunity for collective scientific efforts: if formerly stable academic boundaries can be transgressed, then these lacunas may provide a good chance to advance with new interdisciplinary designs. CEAUP (Centre of African Studies of the Porto University) is an interdisciplinary research centre working on African issues. This series allows the discussion of CEAUP’s efforts in a larger, international context. The studies to be included focus on subjects regarded as especially innovative and which may help our understanding of African current impasses: – Identity and group conflict – Patterns of change in production and labour relationships, notably forced labour – Access to natural resources, such as water, land and raw materials – State building and ‘civil society’ The series accepts monographs, collected papers and conference proceedings in English.

Human Right Studies

Among the broad structural transformation processes at the global level, the international legal recognition of human rights occupies an exceptionally prominent position. The dimensions of this process include standard setting, the functioning of sophisticated machineries for the promotion and protection of human rights, the development of a specific international case-law as well as new priorities of the political agenda. The human rights paradigm is at the heart of a new set of interrelated principles, which are equally valid at both the domestic and the international levels – such as the rule of law, democratic principles and the responsibility to protect – and of great strategic visions, as human development and human security. New functions, such as human rights monitoring, election observation, fact-finding and inquiry have already been admitted to international practice. This series intends to foster the publication of volumes that investigate the multiple facets of a strongly evolving reality, and stimulate the production of new and innovative ideas. It offers to highlight how the human rights paradigm is at times used and at times disregarded or exploited in cases and situations that regard among others those belonging to vulnerable groups (immigrants, asylum seekers, persons with disabilities), NGOs and human rights defenders’ advocacy, intercultural dialogue, governance of world economy, bio-technologies and peace operations. Those studies which adopt inter- and trans-disciplinary approaches, in accordance with the fundamental principle of interdependence and indivisibility of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, will be favored.
