· 9 · a meta-framework Redefining Educational Research The Big Picture By now, you must have realized that this book was written not only to guide you through the process of action research but also to show you how you can develop and grow as an educator. You must have also realized that this type of research can make your life thrilling and fulfilling as you delve into the com- plexity of real-life educational practice and your internal meaning-making system in the process. But a true appreciation of action research will arrive when you actually go through at least two phases. By navigating through the first two phases, you will understand how one phase (i) feeds into to the next (i+1), as in the following. i → i+1 You now know that even if your first phase does not work, it is not really a failure because you will learn from the experience and overcome it in the next phase. By going through this process, you will begin to see your practice as something that is always evolving and offering ample opportunities for your growth and development as an educator.
