Questions for Reflection and Application
After reading the essays in Section Three, answer the following questions:
Think about both good and bad teacher leaders whom you have admired in the past.
1. What are the most important qualities and skills that define “good” teacher leadership?
2. Is there an ethical and moral dimension to teacher leadership?
3. And, most importantly, what is the impact of teacher leaders on the professional status of teachers?
4. What changes would have to occur in the teaching profession if teacher leadership became the norm in schools?
Answer these questions using both the ideas from the essays that we are considering as well as your personal experiences with the schools you have encountered during your life: as a student, parent, and/or teacher. References to specific ideas found in the Section Three essays are expected.
