Questions for Reflection and Application


After reading the essays in Section Five, answer the following questions:

1. Identify key trends and issues that you believe will have an impact on twenty-first-century schools and classrooms.

2. Discuss how these trends and issues will influence schools and the changing roles, responsibilities, and work of teacher leaders.

3. Consider how teacher leadership would look from the perspective of a politician, a school administrator, and a parent. Discuss which of those individuals will have the most to gain and/or lose from emerging teacher leadership.

Answer these questions using both the ideas from the essays that we are considering as well as your personal experiences with the schools you have encountered during your life: as a student, parent, and/or teacher. References to specific ideas found in the Section Five essays are expected.
