7. Three Reasons Why: Teaching Writing through Repetitive Text Structures (Second Grade)
A look into Cecily Morrissey’s classroom revealed a neatly organized and quiet learning environment. Her teaching focused on how to respond to a prompt recycled from the state’s standardized writing test. Cecily reviewed the necessary components of introductory and main-idea paragraphs, followed by a shared writing exercise of two sample paragraphs. Then students return to their seats to try writing on their own.
