There. That’s a pretty good list. Wow, writing it reminds me of how I thought up all those points. Basically, I forced myself to them by ignoring common sense off and on for years (give or take). As a matter of fact, I’m reminded of a particular patch of months I experienced many years ago. It all started during the winter after 9/11. I was finishing a serious, long-term relationship. You know how that is. Those long goodbyes. The sleepless nights. The damned crying spells. The fear of who is or is not “out there.” I just wanted to relax and chill with my girls. I needed to take a break from reality. That’s when I met Soren. Our connection prompted #10 on List #1. Whenever I think about our first encounter, it feels like yesterday…
It was the last Friday of January 2002…a brand new year. My girls and I venture out to a hot spot about the same time every month. On this occasion, we chose Old School Night at Saki. I’ve had some steamy encounters in that place. It’s a chic Japanese restaurant full of cushy interconnected living rooms, a sushi bar, and multi-leveled ponds of exotic silver fish that stream into waterfalls. The owners decked the place with seat-side grills and candlelit tables that surround an elevated dance floor. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy despite the large space.
