Non-professional actors take the stage in their capacity as experts on specific areas of everyday performance. Experts of the everyday are not actors; their expertise lies in an area far removed from the theatre. Initially debate on the pheno- menon of experts of the everyday revolved around the dubious notion of “authenticity”, with the emphasis on the staging of real- life stories and imperfect performance as a play with failure. Espe- cially in more recent works, however, the focus has shifted to also include the social dimension of participation or the way spectators are activated to become co-actors. Ultimately, experts of the ever- yday cannot be considered separately from the discourse around the actor in theatre theory. From this perspective, experts of the everyday can be seen as a reflection of subjectivity in the theatre.
