Daniela Pietrini and Kathrin Wenz

Massimo ARCANGELI

La crisi. Parole e cose

Abstract: The word “crisis” is among the most commonly used words in newspapers, on television news, in political debates, on various social networks to share experiences, and to discuss thoughts and ideas. And most representations of the word over the past decade concern situations, events, conditions that have fueled or used the word as a crowbar to unhinge the doors from yet invisible scenarios or as a decoy to spice up scenes (economic and financial, political, social or other).

It is not only a question of viewing it as a mere word, but also as a layered and multifaceted concept. The word has numerous facets, and a long and complex history, on the one hand from the use in politics, in literature and in the media and on the other hand from the growing “vagueness” of the word and concept.
