Giorgio Federico Siboni

Forms of land’s government in the Age of Restoration. The case of the Kingdom of Illyria

To Francesca Mihi heri, et tibi hodie

Abstract. Created in 1816, after the Napoleonic wars, the Kingdom of Illyria responded to the need to modernize the administration of the Adriatic part of the Habsburg Empire. Its structure was the result of discussions between Metternich, Emperor Francis I and the Council of State. The reasons for which it was thought to reflect the typical spatial organization of the Age of Restoration are complex. Its failure was the result of a lack of organization based on provincial territory.
