Chapter 11 Big Data-Based Organization Management: Okan YAŞAR



The compatibility of big data and its analytics with the strategy of an organization, how analytical processes will be managed, and most importantly, with which structure the organization supports all of these are a matter of debate (Davenport, 2006; Manyika et al., 2011). The answers to these questions allow us to understand how organizations can gain competitive advantage from the management of big data with its analytics and governance structure of big data.

Senior management support, competence of data scientists and decision-making culture have an important role in managing big data and ensuring its compliance with the organization, but the most important success factor is organizational fit.

In the process of using big data, data collection, processing, analysis and use are the basic steps. On the one hand, business units, on the other hand, are the two main parts that must be adapted to the holistic strategy of the large data unit organization. There are few studies that present the difficulties and solutions in this issue, which is becoming more and more problem of organizations. This study has been prepared to fill this gap. The study will also discuss the managing processes of big data to organizations of global companies such as Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motors, and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.
