103 O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Al lah is Knowing and Acquainted. (49:13) The roots of the monotheistic religions, as well as the cultures and civi- lizations that sprang forth from them among the peoples of Southeast- ern Europe, especially in the Balkans, were planted a long time ago and they run very deep. Their origin stretch far back in time and their impact has been quite great in expanse. This can be seen in the exami- nation of the many material and spiritual impressions attesting to this deeply engrained reality.
