This collection of essays assumes the main thesis of Constructive Realism: reality is created. In this volume, it is constructed by authors from various scientific disciplines and very different cultures. The Festschrift is dedicated to the founder of this philosophical approach, Professor Dr. Friedrich Wallner (University of Vienna), in celebration of his 70 th birthday.

(Alberto Hidalgo) Constructive Realism 1. How did you learn to know Friedrich Wallner and the Constructive Realism? I learned to know Professor Fritz Wallner in the late nineties of the twentieth century in the Gustavo Bueno Foundation of Oviedo during a lecture he gave as Professor of Theory of Science at the University of Vienna. At that time he pre- sented himself as the successor of the Vienna Circle, although he reproached its members their narrow positivism and their failed claim to overcome metaphysics, whereas they did not notice that they fell upon a certain kind of metaphysics on their own. In this sense, he recognized certain affinities between his Constructive Realism and Gustavo Bueno’s Philosophical Materialism, particularly with the Theory of Categorical Closure. Precisely those coincidences declined me to invi- te him as the president of the committee of Nicole Holzenthal’s doctoral thesis, defended by her at the University of Oviedo in 2009 with the title «La Idea del espacio antropológico en el Materialismo Filosófico – su alcance y rendimiento en el análisis de las instituciones de los Maring de Nueva Guinea» (The Idea of an- thropological space in Philosophical Materialism – the scope and performance analyzing the institutions of the Maring in New Guinea). Insightful and astu- te observations made by Dr. Wallner on the thesis written in Spanish and with an extensive summary in German to qualify for the European Mention, which Dr. Holzenthal won with her cum laude, made me conceive the idea of inviting...
