Uta Marx Interkulturelles Lernen am Beispiel von Jan Weiler ,Maria, ihm schmeckt’s nicht‘. Über den Einsatz von fiktionalen Filmen im DaF-Unterricht Abstract: Including video materials in didactics belongs nowadays for almost every GFL teacher in school and higher education to daily routine. There is however still some uncer- tainty on which criteria to follow, when selecting films and on how these should be didacti- cized. Basing on the latest scientific findings in reception studies, the didactic proposal of this paper wants to demonstrate, on the example of Maria ihm schmeckt’s nicht, that teachers shouldn’t automatically work first on the literary text and then on its filmic adaption. This traditional contrastive method not always motivates pupils or students to an attentive reception, and ends often with a reductive evaluation of the film. In order to analyze and assess a film adequately, teachers and students should be familiar with the principles of the elements of film language, so they are discussed in this paper. Thanks to a new film critical view, the joint work on both texts‘ may give at the end an answer to the question if it’s better to work on the original book or on film. Presenting concrete examples of exercises to propose before, during and after watching the film can inspire GFL teachers to develop their own templates in an unorthodox way, involving in the lessons also other text types (drawings, photographs, articles, etc.). 1.
