Die kommunikative Durchsetzung universitären Organisationswandels am Beispiel einer finnischen Mitarbeiterzeitung
The paper explores the way in which transnational concepts of change management and change communication are transferred from economics to universities. Taking key articles from a university paper as an example, it is shown how new university leaders present themselves as top managers claiming exclusive expertise in governing the organizational change by communicating it in terms of a crisis narrative that promises a better future claiming to improve the university's efficiency and effectiveness. In the process, governing principles of the old university like 'democracy', 'self-determination', and 'knowledge as a public good' either disappear or become recast as new principles compatible with economic accountability. The findings show how the information of university employees about inevitable measures turns the old democratic university into a post-democratic enterprise university.
