The volume Contextual Approaches in Sociology represents a common effort of researchers in the sociological field, comprising a diversity of papers, informed by various theoretical perspectives and employing a continuum of methodological approaches. Reflecting the variety of scientific preoccupations in the conference, the present book is representative of the current debates in sociology; therefore, it can be a valuable resource for researchers and students in this field. The majority of the papers are authored by Turkish researchers from various institutions which proves that sociology is an effervescent and dynamic field of research in Turkey. Authors from Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina also have inter- esting contributions to the volume. The range of research interests and meth- odological approaches utilised in the papers is very wide. In fact, the diversity of the methodological approaches employed by the authors is an inspiring feature of the present book. Most of the papers use qualitative designs and ethnographic methods (observation, in-depth or semi-structured interviews), but there are also papers employing participatory techniques for collecting data, content analysis, or quantitative methods (survey). The great majority of the papers are empirical, proving the need for understanding the practical side of the social problems and processes studied, as well as the wealth of data collected on various social topics. At the same time, the theoretical papers in the book bring a valuable contribution to the knowledge in the field. As expected for a volume gathering papers presented in a scientific conference, the diversity of the subjects approached is remarkable....
