The Epistemic Lives of Pictures and Visualisations
Images of Knowledge is a product of conversations conducted in the research group Images of Knowledge at the University of Bergen, Norway. Particularly, three workshops with the authors formed and developed the vision for the book and our common framework. In our discussions, a number of ideas and concepts were considered, debated, put to different uses and stretched between different contexts. Apart from the contributors to this volume, three other scholars participated in the workshops: Liv Hausken, Anja Johansen, and Rita Elmkvist Nilsen, who all provided input that substantially shaped the vision of the book. Art historian Matthias Bruhn graciously agreed to contribute an epilogue to our efforts.
This project would not have been possible without generous support from the Bergen University Fund, the Centre for the Study of the Sciences and the Humanities (SVT), the Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies, and the Faculty of Humanities, University of Bergen.
