Communication Audit in Globally Integrated R«U38»D Project Teams

A Linguistic Perspective

Series:

Justyna Alnajjar

Communication audit is a relatively new field of research, which has so far been investigated from a managerial point of view. Linguists have not yet researched it. This book summarises existing, mainly managerial, approaches to communication audits and brings to the forefront a linguistic perspective on them. It showcases that their essence is to capture and assess the actual communication behaviour of auditees. The proposed communication audit model, communication audit procedures, and linguistic form sheet can be applied and further developed by scientists interested in taking on research into communication and by practitioners who wish to conduct communication audits in practice.

Chapter 9:  Communication Audit Model and Procedures

9.0  Opening Remarks

In this chapter, I present a communication audit model and communication audit procedures. These were developed as a result of the communication audits conducted in selected globally integrated R&D project teams during the main study (see Section 7.2.2). I discussed the methodology and coordination of the communication audit research process in detail in Chapter 7. Taking into account these aspects, together with the audit results (see Chapter 8), in Section 9.1 I propose a model for communication audits, whereas in Section 9.2 I present communication audit procedures. Both the model and procedures can be complemented with the linguistic form sheet that I describe in Section 9.2.
