Cyprus Dispute in terms of Energy Politics

Abstract: Ongoing Cyprus Dispute in the East Mediterranean has reached a new stage after the beginning of drilling activities on the southern side of the island in recent months. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus also made an agreement with Turkey to initiate exploratory studies on the northern part of the island. Energy discoveries around the island could be used as a leverage to solve Cyprus Dispute within the bi-communal and bi-zonal federation model, but on the other hand, it can even further escalate tensions and guarantee the divided status of the island.
