Erstspracherwerb im Fokus – Fokus im Erstspracherwerb (am Beispiel von „auch“)
At what age of typical development are children able to understand the focus – one of the basic components of information structure – in everyday utterances? Based on previous studies of Höhle et al. (2009), we report on an eye-tracking study of the German focus-operator “auch“ and found that children begin to understand this focus-operator at the age of 3;11 years. This age matches that of the development of false-belief understanding in children.
