Nowadays, the Bauhaus and its aesthetical ideals are considered to be the epitome of modernity. However, in the 1920’s the Bauhaus used to be a highly controversial precursor of a ‚new culture‘ in many respects. The article focuses on the persuasive and polemical devices several authors used to justify their ideas concerning a reform of orthography and of the language system.
