Rhetorik der Abgrenzung oder Streit der Gegenkulturen: bürgerliche Frauenbewegung versus Sozialdemokratie
The paper makes the case that the civil feminist movement acts as representative of the mainstream at the turn of the 20th century although it is rather in agreement – in view of the „woman question“ (August Bebel) – with the agenda of social democracy than with the dominant Whilhelminian culture. The paper aims to elaborate the discursive and rhetorical means used by the feminist movement to distinguish itself from social democracy. Furthermore, the treatise shows how to make use of discourse and rhetorics as analytical instruments of cultural history studies.
