Berufsweltbezogene kommunikative Kompetenz in Erst- und Fremdsprache – Vorschlag einer Modellierung
Abstract This paper takes its cue from the question whether there is a labor world related communicative competency (for native and foreign language speakers) and, assuming there is one, how one could model it usefully and with regard to existing concepts of general communicative proficiency on the one hand, and the more profession-specific modes of communicative competence on the other. The paper will more specifically take into consideration these existing models as well as models of labor world related registers such as Berufssprache and special languages to elicit the linguistic and communicative requirements of the labor world in general. It pleads for the notion of a labor world related communicative competence to be established in academic discourses and the field of professional practice: a competence which, more precisely, relates to no specific professional sector but rather to the labor world at large. The notion, or concept, to be developed will provisionally be entitled labor world specific communicative proficiency (berufsweltbezogene kommunikative Kompetenz). Its defining features include, among other things, the command of labor world related registers, genres and speech acts.
