Laborbuch & Co. Vom Nutzen des Schreibens für das Denken
Abstract A lab book is a real time record of the work in a laboratory, allows other persons to perform an experiment and is the basis for publishing papers or patent devices. The written record supports team work and helps to remember all the critical details which appear during the weeks, months or years of an experiment. As well lab book writing should be a means of thinking for the writer: A list of numbers will be useless if not associated with the description of what and why.
How to illustrate the skill of writing notebook to a group of students or scientists, who have to work as a team? How to convince them to spend time in handwriting-work to gain a complete, legible, thorough lab notebook ? – The „Textwerkstatt“ as an example for teaching academic writing gives instructions to reflect the individual writing-practice and develops reasons as well as ways to organize the text, in order to find a good practice-solution, which is evident for the group.
