Knut Alfsvåg (ThD) is professor of systematic theology at the School of Mission and Theology, Stavanger, Norway, Professor of Church History at Kobe Lutheran Seminary, and a former missionary to Japan. His research focus has been on the understanding of the relation between God and the world in both an historical and contemporary perspective. His publications include Kyokai no rekishi: Shitojidai kara genzai made no sekai ni okeru kyoukai no hatten (The history of the Church: Its worldwide development from the time of the apostles until today, Kobe, 2002), What no mind has conceived: On the significance of Chistological apophaticism (2010), “Postmodern epistemology and the mission of the church” (2011), “On the Unexpectedness of Salvation in Maximus, Cusanus and Luther” (2012).

Kari Storstein Haug (PhD) is an associate professor of missiology at the School of Mission and Theology, Stavanger, Norway. Her research focus has been on the relationship between Christianity and Buddhism in Thailand, with special regard to questions of contextualization, interreligious hermeneutics and dialogue. Has published Interpreting Proverbs 11:18–31, Psalm 73, and Ecclesiastes 9:1–12 in light of, and as a response to, Thai Buddhist interpretations: A contribution to Christian-Buddhist dialogue (2012). She is currently doing research on contemporary understandings of the Church’s mission.
