Abstract: The contemporary age of globalization, characterized by intensified migration and further development and utilization of digital media, leads predictably to a pluralization of memory. National narratives of memory are validated as transnational or global narratives of memory, but not transnationally standardized at the same time. Global and local memories are still subjected to specific processes of interpretation, appropriation and negotiation, which should be outlined in the foreign language classroom.
