Erinnerungsorte in der akademischen Praxis
Abstract : The paper focuses on the outcomes of a survey, filled out by lecturers in the field of German as a Foreign Language from 5 European universities, on the topic of their experience with the concepts of Cultural Memory and Realms of Memory. Among other aspects, they give their opinion on the aims and methods derived from both concepts that might prove applicable for students preparing to work as language teachers and intercultural moderators. Furthermore, the survey respondents point out predictable difficulties the reception of these concepts might cause. Among the main conclusions the author draws from these findings the most prominent is the necessity of creating foreign language lessons as an authentic meeting place for cultures which will foster identity-boosting experience.
