Conceptos en conflicto: oposición, adversatividad y concesión en la Lingüística Hispánica
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to critically revisit the grammatical descriptions found in the definitions of adversatividad and concesión by contemporary Spanish linguists through a selection of general grammars and specialized articles. The analysis of these definitions enables us to know the main opinions, as well as the differences between them. Most of the descriptions found are related to the grammatical tradition, either because the approach is traditional, or because the same terminology is adopted although with different connotations. Syntactically, the traditional approach connects adversatividad with coordination and concesión with subordination whereas, semantically, they are respectively connected with the notions of oposición and obstáculo inoperante.
