Faces of a Lamenting City

The Development and Coherence of the Book of Lamentations

by Jannie Hunter (Author)
©1996 Monographs 160 Pages

Summary

This book entails a thorough discussion on the contents, development and understanding of the Book of Lamentations. It dwells extensively on matters of introduction and includes an overview of the theological debate on Lamentations. While using intertextuality as its major strategy of interpretation, the book offers valuable discussions of studies done on Lamentations and proposes a new view on the development of this biblical book. This view on the development of Lamentations opens new possibilities for theologically interpreting the book and proposes another look at the unity and authorship of the Book of Lamentations. The views in the book are based on thorough exegesis of Lamentations and it could serve as an excellent basis for other studies in this line.
