Schizotext and Other Poems / Esquizotexto y Otros Poemas

translated by Russel M. Cluff and L. Howard Quackenbush

Russell M. Russell M. Cluff

The composition of this volume takes into account the author's production from his earliest published verse to his most recent unpublished poems. A representative cross section of his poetry and its translation has been divided by the translators into five categories. This selection represents the salient thematic categories of (I) being and becoming, (II) political awareness, (III) metaphysics, (IV) the world of love, and (V) literary self-consciousness. An understanding of these five categories will give the reader an appreciation of the breadth and extent of Gonzalo Rojas' poetic world view.
Contents: A bilingual edition of poems written between 1945 and 1987, representing the salient thematic categories of being and becoming, political awareness, metaphysics, the world of love, and literary self-consciousness. This is the first complete volume of Rojas's poetry published in the English language.
