New York, Bern, Frankfurt/M., Paris, 1987. CLXV, 192 pp.
Contents: The edition presents manageable yet reliable texts, based on the oldest vellum mss, of Konráãs saga keisarasonar,
a 14th-century Icelandic riddarasaga extant in two main redactions. Attention is given to the orthography, paleography,
morphology, syntax, punctuation shown by each of the hands responsible for copying the texts into the mss. 19th-century editors
(Íórãarson, Cederschiöld) relied on secondary mss (paper copies) or partly normalized their base texts without adequately
or always accurately detailing variation. The present editor, aided by ultraviolet photography, for the first time supplies
the full texts of B and E directly from the mss.
