The Earlier Letters of Paul - and Other Studies

Series:

John C. Hurd

This collection of essays (five not previously published) concerns the study of St. Paul, with particular attention to his early letters: 1 and 2 Thessalonians and 1 Corinthians. There is a major emphasis on method in Pauline study: on, for example, the use of Acts, the chronology of Paul's life, and the recovery of Paul's earliest theology. Using insights based on the study of ancient letters the author deals with the structure and integrity of 1 Thessalonians and 1 Corinthians, and the authenticity of 2 Thessalonians. Included also is an overview of Mark's gospel.
Contents: Essay on Paul's early letters (1 and 2 Thessalonians and 1 Corinthians), on his earliest theology, on method in Pauline studies, and on Greek letter structure.
